I’ve wanted to do a road trip for years and finally this year it actually happened! The first day we drove 701 miles making it to Seligman, Arizona and the last day we by sheer chance drove 698 miles making home safely to California—with much easier drives in between! We had many great road adventures on our ten day journey through eight states in the western United States. It’s far to much to tell online with text but I will give you pictures!
When we got home I closed my eyes to sleep and saw the highway. I came to see that the United States is huge and sparsely populated in rural areas. I came to see the truckers as modern day cowboys. There are some really wonderful places and people in the Middle Lands. We saw some fantastic public art in small rural areas and small cities like Wichita, KS and Grand Junction, CO. We didn’t get to see some areas I really wanted to see as we tried to avoid bad weather (strange weather, we just got through Yosemite before they closed the road due to fire)—especially the 425 mile loop through the Navaho Reservation in Arizona—according to National Geographic it’s on the world’s best 500 drives. Next time!
