The title of this work is “Come Together”. This is the first piece for an exhibition that I am working on for the 7th Annual 50|50 Show at the Sanchez Art Center in Pacifica, CA, opening at the end of August. For this show, each artist selected creates 50 pieces in 50 consecutive days, which center around a theme generated by the artist. They will all be displayed in a big grid.
Today was day one!
The theme I submitted is “50 Ways to Tame Our Wicked Climate Crisis”. I have been researching climate change and the number one thing I can see we need to do is come together and start working on the problem together, by collectively acknowledging that we have a problem (especially here in the U.S. of A.) and moving together to work on solutions. When I say wicked, I mean really wicked. I have become convinced that this is an immensely complex problem that will require the best in all of us to overcome. I think we can do it–but we must come together!
So, I was so happy to see that the G7 came together with German Chancellor Angela Merkel who lead the signing of a pledge to eliminate reliance on fossil fuels by the end of the century! What a magnificent woman! A true leader!
Tomorrow: on to the second solution!
