Last week I attended The Climate Reality Training and Conference in Iowa. Working toward a livable future for our planet has always been one of my main goals in life. So after I got my cochlear implants, thus enabling me hear again last year, and then better adjusting to them this year (after listening to many audio books about the climate crisis) I felt I should go out and connect with people who share some of my same passions. The Climate Reality Project did a phenomenal job with the training and conference, I must say it was an absolutely amazing experience. There were people from 22 different countries, and I met so many people who cared passionately and sincerely want to work in the best way possible to help solve our climate crisis. That alone gave me hope.
I speak best through my artwork but I am stretching myself and will speak to anyone who will listen about the climate issues and the solutions. This is the challenge of our generation and each generation that has survived in the past rose up to their challenge and adapted and changed. It is nature’s way.
I almost feel like this problem is being crowd sourced on the internet. So maybe together we can begin to solve it? You can find so much information on the internet, one great site is Skeptical Science.
Somebody asked me what my one big take-away from the conference was so I’m posting it here for you. There are many other problems, chiefly with our agricultural methods but this is the what they focused on primarily.
We need to end the age of fossil fuels and transition
into clean renewable energy because we are putting to much CO2
into the atmosphere. It’s as if we are covering our planet with blankets of heat trapping gases. There’s not much time left to do
this before we reach a point of no return because
it takes a very long time for these gases to dissipate.
Personally, I’m one to err on the side of caution when it comes to whether or not we have a habitable planet.
